Info on francization policy

Are you aware of the last « Immigration, Participation and Inclusion Action Strategy 2016-2021»?

Did you know that the government:

  • recognizes that an "insufficient command of French affects a person's ability to access positions that match the professional skills they have acquired abroad and contributes to the phenomena of underemployment and overqualification, which generate significant costs for the economy." (page 22)
  • recognizes the importance of "francization services for professional purposes that enable immigrants to acquire more quickly the French language skills and socio-cultural references needed to find a job that matches the qualifications they have acquired abroad, to remain in employment and to strengthen their autonomy in their integration process."

Source : http://www.midi.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/dossiers/Strategie_ImmigrationParticipationInclusion.pdf

As a result of these conclusions, the government aims to adapt its service offer

  • "to the profiles and needs of individuals and will be designed to enable them to acquire the knowledge necessary to participate fully in society." (page 22)
  • to respond "directly to their need to acquire the language skills necessary to practice their trade or profession in Quebec." (page 27)
  • the government intends to "enrich this specialized francization offer and improve the evaluation of students' skills." (page 27)

The government recognizes the importance of specialized French courses for immigrants:

  • to "acquire the language skills necessary to practice their trade or profession in Quebec." (page 27)
  • to "access positions that match the professional skills they have acquired abroad" (page 22)
  • to "quickly acquire the socio-cultural references necessary to find a job that matches the qualifications they have acquired abroad, to maintain employment and to strengthen their autonomy in their integration process" (page 27)
